4.1. Chopin signed letter
This letter. written by Chopin on 28 December 1838. is especially important because of the information it contains on the composer’s stay in the Valldemossa Charterhouse. “You can imagine between the rocky outcrops and the sea. in a cell of a huge abandoned monastery. with doors larger than any of the gates of Paris. […] I write to you from a strange place (…) Each time I have gone from Palma to Valldemossa has always been with the same driver. but never along the same route. […] Since they never see outsiders. they do not know what price to ask for the things they sell. But all this is nothing more than a grain of sand compared to the skies. the poetry that emanates from everything in this vibrant landscape. One of the most beautiful in the world and the eyes of the men have not yet rendered it lackluster.”
